Last updated: May 2, 2026. Welcome to Deewar (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). We are committed to protecting your personal information and your right to privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Deewar mobile application, website, and related services (collectively, the “App” or “Services”).
By accessing or using our Services, you agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
1. Information we collect
We collect information that you provide to us directly, as well as information collected automatically when you use our Services.
Information you provide to us
- Account information. When you register for an account, we may collect your name, email address, and authentication credentials.
- User-generated content. As a video-first marketplace, we collect the content you upload. This includes video clips (e.g., MP4 files), automatically generated thumbnails (e.g., JPG files), listing titles, and descriptions.
- Customer support. If you contact us at [email protected] or report a listing, we collect the information you provide in your communication.
Device permissions
To let you create video listings, the mobile App asks for the following permissions on your device. You may grant or revoke any of them at any time through your device settings; revoking a permission may disable the related feature.
- Camera. Used only when you choose to record a new video clip for a listing. We do not access the camera in the background.
- Microphone. Used to capture audio together with the video while you are recording a listing. We do not record audio outside of an active recording session.
- Photo library / gallery. Used only when you choose to attach an existing video from your device’s gallery to a listing. We access only the file you select; we do not browse, scan, or upload any other media.
- Location. Used only when you are creating a listing, to pre-fill the post’s location for convenience. We do not track your location in the background. If you deny this permission, you can still publish the listing by selecting the location manually.
Information collected automatically
- Technical data. We automatically collect certain technical information when you access the App, such as your Internet Protocol (IP) address, device type, operating system, app version, and usage statistics.
2. How we use your information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide the Services. To create and manage your account and host your video listings so that interested buyers can discover them and reach the seller directly by email.
- To review and moderate content. Because every listing on Deewar is reviewed before going live, we process your video uploads and descriptions to ensure they comply with our Terms of Service and community guidelines.
- To improve the App. To analyze usage trends, troubleshoot technical issues (such as video upload failures), and enhance the overall user experience.
- To maintain safety and security. To detect and prevent fraud, spam, abuse, and other illegal activities, and to respond to user reports.
3. How we share your information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following specific circumstances:
- With other users. When you publish a listing, your video, description, public profile information, and the email address associated with your account are visible to other users on the marketplace, so interested buyers can contact you directly. Deewar does not host in-app messaging; all communication between buyers and sellers happens over email, outside the App.
- With service providers. We use third-party service providers to help operate our App (for example, cloud storage providers to securely host your video files and thumbnails). These providers have access to your data only to perform specific tasks on our behalf and are obligated to protect it.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose your information if required to do so by law, or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).
4. Data retention and security
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Services. We implement reasonable technical and organizational security measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, loss, or alteration. However, please note that no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Access, update, or delete the personal information we have on you.
- Delete your Deewar account and the data associated with it (see below).
- Grant or revoke any device permission (camera, microphone, gallery, or location) at any time through your mobile device’s settings.
- Opt out of certain data collection practices.

Deleting your account
You can delete your Deewar account at any time from inside the app (Profile → Settings → Delete account). If you cannot access the app, email us at [email protected] from the address associated with your account and we will process the request.
When you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile, active listings, uploaded videos, and thumbnails from our active systems. Because contact between buyers and sellers happens over email outside the App, any email correspondence already sent or received remains in the participants’ own mailboxes and is outside our control. We may retain a limited amount of information for as long as required by law or to prevent fraud and abuse (for example, records of policy violations reported to authorities). Residual copies in encrypted backups are purged on the normal backup-rotation schedule.
6. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the “Last updated” date at the top of this policy and, where appropriate, through an in-app notification. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
